I wanted to make a really fun space for my toddler. With the current situations in society, I felt it was more important then ever to make a space that could engage her and maybe help burn some energy at the same time. I decided to turn my regular garden into a place that she could just have fun. I wanted to play on the concept of Fantasyland. This was one of my favorite lands as a child. I always loved watching the fireworks in the area with its renaissance and princess theming. It has always been a great place to get away from crowds of the fireworks. My favorite part was running from ride to ride while getting glimpses of the fireworks and hearing the music.

We started by trying to make a hand firework mural. We started with painting the bottom of our shed with colorful hand prints. We just used craft acrylic paint. My toddler loved doing this, but I will admit this got messy fast. After our first hands dried, I placed a decal that I got on Amazon.com with the castle image.

We added decking tiles to cover an old area where a fire pit used to be placed. We started by filling in the the area with sand to level it out before putting the tiles down. The tiles just snap into place. I found that they sat best together on a level surface. We then placed a playhouse and a slide in our play area.

We were having fun, but I still felt our play area needed a little more magic.

We added some lights that look like fireworks and a tulle canopy to add a little more princess magic. I got the fairy lights on Amazon.com. They were about $20.00 for two lights. We also added this inflatable bounce house. The house I also purchased on Amazon.com. It was $39.00. It is definitely something I don’t feel will last forever, but I justified the purchase by telling myself that I used to spend more on outings. We also added a crawling tube we had around the house.

The bounce house was used for hours of bouncing fun. I felt it was a great purchase for young children. It quickly turned into our favorite nap spot.

But the real magic came at nightime.

We added some lanterns with fake tealight candles and we lit the tiki torches.

Overall, I was happy with the result and my daughter loves playing here.
