There are so many great sitting areas with rocking chairs around Disney World, but my favorite is probably the ones that are located on the Yacht Club porches. The Yacht Club has been one of our favorite resorts as a family. Even when we are trying another resort, we seem to find ourselves spending some time at this resort during our vacation. There is really nothing better than coming back from a long day and just sitting down. I love to sit and take in the resort ambience and enjoy my family. I wanted to do a project that I could incorporate some of the elements that always stood out to me and that I could actually replicate at home on a smaller scale. These elements included the rockers, red geraniums and the terra cotta pot displays of flowers that I have seen through the years.

So to start out, I had to choose a place. I chose the ugly trailer in my driveway. I have been trying to hide it for many years and have never quite perfected it.

Here’s what I have tried in the beginning of the season. It’s nice, but it really doesn’t help disguise the trailer. The second photo shows is what I ended up with after my first attempt. To get this appearance, I moved a rocker I had. I moved the majority of the flower pots that were in front of the trailer to on top of it, but left some lower ones to cover up the gap under the trailer. I also added red geraniums. The product was beautiful. After looking at it for a week, I felt it could be better. It just seemed lonely with only one rocker, and I wanted a water feature.
So I started moving things off the trailer to make room for a water feature. I purchased it on Amazon.com. I have wanted a water feature for quite sometime. This one was perfect for me, because it is designed for growing aquatic plants. It was also something that I could move if I needed to. It only took about 20 minutes to set up.

I also wanted to add more flowers, but I didn’t want t spend alot on them. I went to my local home repair store and was very happy to find many plants on the discount rack. This is a great trick to get discounted plants. I have found most retailers do it throughout the season. When you get to July, there will be usually be a greater selection as the flower season winds down. These flowers usually have a little sunburn, need dead blooms removed, and were probably were a little underwatered. I look for flowers I know will rebloom and have some nice green foliage amongst the dead foliage. I also decided on using terra cotta pots that are part of the theme. Terra cotta pots are also cost effective. They usually range in price from a few dollars to about twenty dollars depending on size.
After a little cleaning and potting, here’s what I ended up with.

To really finish off the project, I decided to put a fresh coat of paint on the existing table and to add another rocker. Afterall, it’s no fun rocking alone.

After a little use, we ended up with a truly disney nook complete with moved around furinture waiting for someone to put it in its perfect location again. And sometimes when you’re lucky you might even get a nighttime fireworks show as well.
